Royal mail are due to go on strike for another week
There is yet another strike happening at the Royal Mail on Friday as workers are protesting to the Government over pay cuts and job opportuntiies. On the brink of a national dispute the Government are suggesting that a small part of the Royal Mail becomes privatise in order to modernise the company. Recently the Royal Mail have slashed pay and reduced services which is extremely illogical and unfair.
A CWU spokesman said: “It will cause a significant regional impact. It will take a couple of days to clear and backlog at least. This alone will cause confusion and will ultimately mean that people will not be able to get their post on time as expected.
Dave Ward who is the Union Director said that the changes being made were unfair and illogical.
Direct Mail services around the country have already been seriously affected and peoples post is due to be in limbo for at least a week. The same protests were present last year when the Unions were kicking up a fuss over pay and job losses.
The Government hit back by saying that the Royal Mail really needs updating and the Union should not stand in the way of this change but help it along its way. Amid claims that the postal service will halt the Royal Mail have claimed that all post offices outside London will be running normally.
Workers and protesters alike have been swarming the streets with large banners the size of houses which much of cost the union a lot of money in digital printing. The workers are primarily claiming that mail room services have hit an all time low and something desperately needs to be done to rectify this situation.
