How To Prepare Your Home For Get-togethers And Holiday Parties
Will you be hosting a party over the holiday? Are you often the host of weekend get-togethers or Friday night parties? If this describes you, then there are many ways you’ll be able to turn your home into party central with only a few tips.
One of the best ways to make your guests comfortable is to regulate the temperature in your home. You can do this without breaking the bank, too. You don’t always have to turn the heater way up or run the air conditioner nonstop to regulate conditions. If your guests are too hot, break out a small portable fan and direct it towards a large area of the house to circulate stale air.
You can warm the air in your home with home space heaters to keep your guests comfortable. These heaters are available in many sizes and can be put anywhere. They’re affordable as well as portable, and you can adjust the thermostat as necessary when you need more or less heat.
Don’t forget to provide your friends with enough food. Nothing promotes good conversation like tasty food baked in a convection oven or cooked on the grill. Simple finger foods, such as cookies, hors d’oeuvres, deviled eggs, small bars of fudge, and a veggie tray with dip can keep your guests entertained while they wait for a meal or during a game.
Entertaining your guests with non-alcoholic drinks is also a great way to keep your people happy while still being capable to drive safely home. Chilled or frozen drinks can be processed in a blender or in a food processor before being poured into a colorful glass or crystal. Serve these on a charger or tray for a pretty presentation.
Don’t make your guests eat the whole time, though. It’s crucial that you provide some other form of entertaining to keep them wanting to come back to your house. If you’re hosting a holiday party, consider hiring a band to perform or a pianist to play requests and Christmas music. If your party is during the summertime, set up a volleyball net, croquet or golf, or just provide a football for the kids and teens to toss around. Any of these can keep your guests busy while you entertain.
Make yourself a reputation of being the life of the party by providing easy cleanup in the form of trash bins and disposable silverware, cups, napkins, and plates. Company is usually not very fond of bringing back dishes to a crowded kitchen; it’s much easier for yourself and your guests when you give them enough trash receptacles in the house or the garage to dump their used items when they feel up to it; this will prevent you from having a lot of cleanup when the party’s over.
